The Story of Gyokuro-Japanese Green Tea:

Gyokuro (玉露), meaning "jade dew" in Japanese, represents the pinnacle of Japanese tea craftsmanship. Our authentic Gyokuro is grown in Uji, Kyoto—Japan's most prestigious tea region with centuries of tea-making heritage.

What makes Gyokuro extraordinary is its distinctive cultivation method. For 20-30 days before harvest, the tea plants are meticulously shaded under special coverings, reducing sunlight by up to 90%. This careful shading process triggers the leaves to produce more chlorophyll and amino acids while reducing catechins, resulting in the tea's signature emerald-green color, intense umami flavor, and reduced astringency.

Harvested during the first flush (Ichiban-cha) when the leaves are at their most tender, our Uji Gyokuro delivers the authentic experience of Japan's most luxurious tea tradition.
